SPF SIG Counties

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) approved the Iowa Strategic Plan for the Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant (SPF SIG) on February 14, 2011. The plan is included as a PDF link below. There were 23 counties identified as "highest need" on the SPF SIG priorities and these counties were then invited to participate in the project. The SPF SIG funded counties include:

  9. Lee
  1. Monona
  2. Plymouth
  3. Ringgold
  4. Sac
  5. Woodbury

Highlights of the Strategic Plan are listed below:

  • The SPF SIG Advisory Council selected two priorities areas for the project which include reducing underage alcohol use and reducing binge drinking.
  • Funding is being provided to counties identified as "highest need" based on data indicators which include underage drinking, adult binge drinking and a combined legal consequences rate.
  • These counties receive funding through a contract amendment with the Comprehensive Substance Abuse Prevention agencies
