The Division of Environmental Health provides technical assistance to local boards of health, local environmental health professionals, public health nurses, and local communities in areas relating to environmental health
The mission of Bureau of Radiological Health is to protect Iowans from excessive exposure to radiation.
Hazardous substances such as waste products, pesticides, radon, and other toxins are monitored and regulated by the Bureau of Environmental Health Services. In addtion, this bureau oversees programs which monitor consumer product safety, grade "A" milk production, swimming pool and spa inspections, and tattoo artists.
Childhood and adult lead poisoning prevention, and the regulation of professionals who reduce the risk of lead exposure in Iowa are the responsibility of the Bureau of Lead Poisoning Prevention.
